Half the Orangevale calls we get start with the same line: “So, we’ve got this big oak out front.” Great. We love that oak. It’s also the reason Orangevale Christmas light installation looks different from a tract-home job in a newer suburb, because out here the trees are older than most of the houses and the lots run deep. We’re a family crew of brothers working out of Folsom, a few minutes up the road, and we’d rather be on your ladder than watch you wobble on it. Call (916) 659-6549 and we’ll talk it through.

    Sloped lots toward Lake Natoma

The Twin Lakes side of town, down toward Lake Natoma and the Fair Oaks line, is a real mix: single-story houses, two-story places, and duplexes and townhomes tucked along curving streets. Some lots slope toward the lake side, so we plan ladder spots before anything comes off the truck. Almond Ridge, right on the Fair Oaks line, sits on that same slope, so the same ladder planning applies, and a wrapped tree down by the street often shows better than the roof.

Up around Pershing Avenue, the shade is heavy and the outlets are old. There’s usually one outdoor plug, maybe two, and one of them is always behind the side gate with the dog. We map power first so nobody ends up running a cord across the driveway.

Big trees, long driveways, and a lot of Orangevale Christmas lights

Filbert Avenue, up near Orangevale Community Park, is heavy on mature trees and well-kept yards. That’s tree-wrap country. We wrap trunks and the main limbs tight and even, and we space the strands so the bark still shows through a bit instead of looking like one blob of light. Oaks and big sycamores take a wrap nicely. Skinny fruit trees are hit or miss, and we’ll tell you which ones are worth the strands. Which trees hold lights best is on our tree wrapping page.

Then there are the horse properties. A lot of Orangevale is zoned for animals and orchards, and along roads like Hazel Avenue and Greenback Lane you find acre-ish lots with long gravel or paved drives. That’s where stakes along the drive make the biggest difference after dark. Sprinkler heads get located before a single stake goes down.

    Woodmore Oaks and Casa Robles

Woodmore Oaks is mostly late-1960s homes with long, low eaves, which are a joy to light. Straight runs, easy pitch, fast work, and usually one good yard tree to finish it off. Up on the north side, the Casa Robles streets around the high school have long front walks that can carry a real row of stakes, and big shade trees that make the house look lit from the curb in.

What ends up on the house

Most Orangevale jobs start with the roofline on plastic clips that grab the gutter edge or slide under the shingles, so nothing leaves a hole in your fascia. Then a big trunk or two, a pillar wrap on each porch post, tight enough to read clean from the street, and stakes out along the drive. A lit wreath goes wherever you’ll see it from the road, which out here is often the gate or a barn gable, and lit garland runs along the porch rail. If you want the banister inside done too, we’ll do it while we’re there.

Every strand and every clip comes off our truck. Nobody in your house has to dig out the bin of old lights, and nobody has to test a bulb. The timer does the switching, dusk to bedtime.

December fixes and the January pull

If a section goes dark in the middle of December, ring (916) 659-6549 and a brother swings by with a replacement. We’re in Fair Oaks, Citrus Heights and Folsom all season long, so Orangevale is never out of the way. If you’ve got a place over in Fair Oaks too, we can do both on the same trip.

Come January, we come back and take it all down. Nothing sits on your roof into spring, and you never have to find shelf space for bins of lights.
