The course and the homes around it

Cameron Park Country Club is a private 18-hole course at 3201 Royal Drive, designed by Bert Stamps and opened in 1962. The homes around it were built in phases from the 1960s onward. Streets off Royal Drive and Cambridge Road have single-story ranch homes from the 1970s with fairway views and, on some, a golf cart garage behind the house. El Dorado Royale, a gated section on the course, has homes from the 1990s on cul-de-sacs. The ground rolls, so many homes sit above or below the street.

    Fairway side and street side

A golf course home has two faces, and many owners light both. The fairway side takes the back roofline, the patio cover and the rail of a deck, run from a back outlet. The street side takes the front roofline, the garage and the entry. We plan the two as separate runs so each has its own timer and both come on together.

Older roofs, hillside lots and gates

Homes from the 1970s have low-pitch roofs, wide fronts and composition shingle, or shake that has been replaced with composition. C9 LED bulbs clip to the gutter lip or shingle edge and the line is cut at each corner. Homes from the 1990s are more often stucco with tile, which takes a tile clip under the first course. A house below street grade shows its roof from the road, so the full roofline matters more than the walls. On a house above street grade, stake lights along the drive carry the look down to the street. For El Dorado Royale, we need the gate code or an escort for the install, any fix and the takedown.

    Trees and color

Oaks and pines on these lots are mature. A spiral trunk wrap with even strand spacing to the first fork is the usual job, and shrubs get nets. Warm white is the common choice on the course homes, and all-multicolor is available.

    Quote, timers, takedown

A timer at the exterior outlet runs the lights. Installs run early November through December, mid-season fixes are included, and takedown is in January with storage until next year if you want. Quotes come at no charge. Send the address, the number of stories, the roof type and the parts you want lit, with a photo from the street and one from the fairway side. Call (916) 659-6549. Cameron Park is about 15 miles east of Folsom on Highway 50. See the Cameron Park page, El Dorado Hills to the west and Shingle Springs to the east.

Common questions in Cameron Park Country Club

Can you light the side that faces the fairway?
Yes. The back roofline, patio cover and deck rail take a separate run from a back outlet.

My street is gated. How does that work?
Give us the gate code or arrange an escort for install day, any mid-season fix and the January takedown.

Do you work on a house below street level?
Yes. The roofline shows well from the road on a downhill lot, and stake lights can run down the steps to the door.
