How a Land Park quote works
Send the address, how many stories, the roof type and which parts you want lit. A photo from the sidewalk helps. Most Land Park quotes are done from that without a visit, and there is no charge for the quote. Call (916) 659-6549 or use the form at the bottom of this page.
Period homes around William Land Park
Land Park was the last of the park neighborhoods to build out. The College Tract north of the park started in 1927, and most of the houses in the neighborhood date from the 1930s. Tudor Revival, Spanish and storybook cottages sit next to larger two-story period homes. There is no HOA. The park, with the zoo and the golf course, is across the street for many of these houses.
Houses of this age have wood or stucco walls, composition shingle on most roofs and tile on a few. Rooflines turn corners often, with steep front gables, rounded eaves on the storybook cottages and arched entries on the Spanish homes. We clip C9 LED bulbs along the gutter or shingle edge and cut the line at each turn so it follows the roof outline. A tile roof takes a tile clip instead of a shingle clip, and the line sits at the edge of the first row.
Lots are narrow compared with newer suburbs. Side yards are tight and the outlet may be in the back. We run the line to the nearest exterior outlet and put the timer at the plug.
Trees, shrubs and the front walk
Street trees in Land Park are large and old. Wrapping a trunk to the first fork, in a spiral with the strands spaced evenly, is the most common request. Boxwood hedges and foundation shrubs take net lights. Stake lights run along the front walk from the sidewalk to the door.
Warm white is the usual pick on period homes, and multicolor is available when you want it. A lit wreath in warm white hangs on the door or above the garage.
Lights go up from early November through December on a timer set to the hours you choose. If something stops working, we come back during the season. The lights come down in January, and we can store them until next year. Land Park is about 25 miles west of Folsom. The Sacramento page covers the rest of the city. Pocket-Greenhaven is south along the river, and the Fabulous Forties are across downtown in East Sacramento.
Common questions in Land Park
Can you hang lights on a tile roof?
Yes. A tile roof takes a tile clip that hooks under the first course. Nothing is screwed or nailed into the tile.
Do you need to come out before the quote?
Usually not. The address, story count, roof type and a sidewalk photo are enough for most houses in Land Park. We visit when the roof is unusual.
What happens to the lights after the season?
We take them down in January, coil them and either leave them with you or store them until next season.
