Christmas lights for the 1950s ranch homes and quarter-acre lots of Arden Park in Arden-Arcade.
The season on an Arden Park house
Installs start in early November and run through December. The lights sit on a timer at the exterior outlet and come on at dusk. If a bulb or a run fails during the season, we come back. Takedown happens in January. We can store the lights for you until next year, or leave them coiled in your garage.
1950s ranch homes on quarter-acre lots
Arden Park, sometimes listed as Arden Park Vista, was built mostly in the 1950s. The houses are single-story ranch homes with low-pitch roofs and wide fronts. Lots run around a quarter acre to a third of an acre, larger than the standard tract lot, with mature trees and landscaping that has been in place for decades. Some homes have been rebuilt or expanded to two stories.
The ranch roofline sets the job. We clip C9 LED bulbs along the gutter lip across the front and around to the sides, cutting the line at each corner. Where a porch roof steps down from the main roof, each level gets its own run. Composition shingle is the usual roof. Gutters are on most houses, which keeps the clip simple. Where a home has been rebuilt with a tile roof or a second story, the clip changes to a tile clip and the upper eave takes its own line.
Wide fronts take a lot of line. A front of 50 feet or more with a return on each side is common in Arden Park, and that is a long straight run. Garage doors, entry trim and a low rail fence can carry the line across the whole frontage.
Trees, shrubs and what to send for a quote
Mature trees are the other half of the yard here. A trunk wrap in a spiral with even spacing to the first fork, or a full wrap on a smaller ornamental tree, is the usual request. Foundation shrubs along the front take nets. The walk from the sidewalk to the door takes stake lights. Warm white and multicolor can be split between the house and the yard, or one of them can go everywhere.
The quote costs nothing. Send the address, the roof type, the number of stories and which parts you want lit, with a photo from the sidewalk, and most quotes come back without a visit. Call (916) 659-6549. Arden Park is about 15 miles west of Folsom. The Arden-Arcade page covers the wider area. Arden Oaks and Wilhaggin are the neighborhoods next to it.
Common questions in Arden Park
How much line does a ranch house take?
It depends on the front width and how many sides you light. We measure from the photo and the address and quote from that.
Can you light just the front?
Yes. Front only, front and sides, or the full perimeter. Most Arden Park jobs light the front and the sides that show from the street.
What does the timer do?
It turns the lights on at dusk and off at the hour you choose. It plugs in at the exterior outlet and the lights plug into it.
