Christmas light installation for Blackstone homes, scheduled inside the association's published five-weeks-before, two-weeks-after window.

    The published window

Blackstone is one of the few associations in El Dorado Hills that publishes its seasonal lighting window. Per the association’s December 2025 newsletter, seasonal lighting may go up five weeks before a holiday and come down two weeks after. For Christmas that puts installs in the second half of November and takedown in the first part of January. We book Blackstone jobs inside that window without being asked.

    What Blackstone homes look like

Blackstone is a 990-acre gated community off Latrobe Road, entered by way of Clubview Drive and Blackstone Parkway. The homes date from about 2008 through the late 2010s and went up in phases by several builders, among them Lennar, Standard Pacific and The New Home Company. Most are two-story plans with several front gables and a two- or three-car garage. Lofts and downstairs guest suites are common, which means tall front elevations with a long roofline. The upper tracts, Summit View and The Ridge, sit at the highest point of the community with hillside views.

    Roofline, gables and the garage

The lights are C9 LED bulbs on commercial-grade line. On a two-story Blackstone home the line runs the whole roofline: the main eave, each front gable and the garage eave. It is clipped to the gutter lip or the shingle edge, cut to fit each run, and never draped from peak to peak. The second-story peaks need a taller ladder set from the driveway or a flat spot in the side yard, so a cleared driveway on install day helps.

Power comes from an exterior outlet, usually the one by the garage or front porch. A timer at the plug runs the lights on a dusk schedule.

    Trees, walkways and color

Blackstone’s street trees are still young, so most tree work here is a spiral wrap on the trunk and a few main limbs with a fixed strand count. Stake lights along the driveway and front walk are a common add. Warm white and multicolor are both available. Warm white is the usual pick on the lighter exteriors; multicolor is often placed on one tree or the garage run to break it up.

    Mid-season fixes, takedown and quotes

If a run goes dark, we come out and fix it. Takedown happens in January, inside the published window. We can hold the lights until next season.

A quote needs your address, the number of stories, the roof type and which parts you want lit. Photos from the street help. Call (916) 659-6549 or send the form at the bottom of this page. Neighbors in Serrano and Bass Lake have their own pages.

    Common questions in Blackstone

Can the lights go up the week of Thanksgiving?
Yes. Thanksgiving week falls inside Blackstone’s five-weeks-before window. Book early, because that week fills first.

Do you need a gate code?
Yes, for install day and again for takedown. Most owners add us to the guest list for the day.

Will the clips mark a newer roof?
No. The clips grip the gutter lip or the shingle edge and come off at takedown. Nothing is screwed or glued to the roof.
