    Homes in Serrano

Serrano is the largest master-planned community in El Dorado Hills. It is built as a set of villages, most of them gated, around the Serrano Country Club golf course and about 1,000 acres of open space with trails. The housing runs from production tract homes to custom estates. Many homes are single-story. Exteriors are mostly stucco, and roofs are a mix of concrete tile and composition shingle depending on the village.

The lots sit on rolling ground, and stepped rooflines, courtyard walls and side-entry garages are common. Those details decide how the line runs.

How we light a Serrano roofline

C9 LED bulbs go on commercial-grade line, clipped to the gutter lip or the shingle edge. On a tile roof the clip seats at the gutter and the first course of tile, not through the tile face, so nothing is drilled or glued. The line follows the actual roofline, every peak and return, and is cut to length on site. We do not drape it between high points.

Two-story homes with several gables take more line and ladder time than a single-story ranch, which is why the number of stories is the first thing we ask.

Power comes from an exterior outlet. A timer at the plug turns the lights on at dusk and off at the hour you choose.

    Trees, driveways and the gate

Serrano has young street trees in the newer villages and native oaks on lots that back to open space. We wrap a trunk and its main limbs in a spiral with a set number of strands. Stake lights line a driveway or a walk. Hedges get strand lights.

The villages are gated. We need the gate code or a guest entry arranged for the install day and again for takedown. Serrano has an association and each village has its own rules. Check the seasonal-decoration rule for your village and we will work inside that window.

Warm white or multicolor, and what happens in January

Both bulb colors are available. Warm white is the common choice on Serrano’s tan and cream stucco. Multicolor reads well against darker trim. The two can be mixed, warm white on the roof and multicolor on a tree.

If a section stops working mid-season, we come back and repair it. Lights come down in January, and we can store your set until next year.

A quote is free and is usually done from your address, the number of stories, the roof type and which parts you want lit. A photo from the sidewalk helps. Call (916) 659-6549, or the form below reaches us too. Nearby pages: The Promontory and Bass Lake.

    Common questions in Serrano

Do you need to come out before quoting a home in Serrano?
Usually no. For a large custom home on a sloped lot we may ask for photos or a short visit.

Can the lights go up before Thanksgiving?
Yes. Installs run from early November through December. Earlier dates have the most open schedule.

    What about the village HOA?
Check your village’s seasonal-decoration rule and tell us the window. We install and take down inside it.
