Wexford homes
Wexford is a 24-hour guard-gated community in Granite Bay next to the Granite Bay Golf Club, with golf-cart access to the club, a park and private tennis and pickleball courts. The homes went up in the late 1990s and early 2000s as large custom and semi-custom estates, many over 5,000 square feet, on lots of roughly half an acre to an acre and a half along Wexford Circle, Waverly Court and Westbury Circle. Stucco, stone and tile roofs are common here.
A house of that size has a long roofline with several hips and gables and a garage on a side wing. Each of those is its own run.
Doing the roofline right on a large tile roof
The C9 LED bulbs go on commercial-grade line, clipped to the gutter lip and the leading eave tile. No drilling, no adhesive on the tile. Every run is cut on site to the exact length of the eave or gable it sits on, so the bulbs line up and nothing is draped. On a two-story Wexford elevation the upper peaks are reached by ladder from the driveway or a firm spot in the side yard; a cleared driveway makes the day shorter.
Power comes from exterior outlets, usually one near the garage and one near the entry, each with a timer at the plug set to the same schedule. Larger homes may need both.
Either bulb color is available. On stone and stucco, warm white is the common choice. Multicolor is more often used on a tree at the entry or the stake run along the drive.

A wide driveway or motor court takes stake lights along both edges. Front-yard trees have had about 25 years to grow and wrap well in a spiral with a set number of strands on the trunk and main limbs. Shrubs along the house take strand lights. Entry columns and a front fence line are lit with the same line run along the cap.
The gate needs us on the guest list for install day and for takedown in January. Wexford has an association; check its seasonal-decoration rule and give us the window. We fix anything that goes out mid-season and can store your lights until next year.
