Christmas light installation across the Pocket and Greenhaven, inside the bend of the Sacramento River south of downtown.
Three decades of houses inside one river bend
Pocket-Greenhaven sits about five miles south of downtown Sacramento. Interstate 5 forms the east edge and the Sacramento River wraps around the rest. Lake Greenhaven fills a former clay pit in the middle. Greenhaven was built first, starting in the 1960s with Greenhaven 70 and the lake homes in the 1970s. The Pocket built out in the 1980s and 1990s. Houses are single-family, single-story and two-story, on standard suburban lots, with some larger lots along the river and the lake.
Roofs from the 1960s to the 1990s
Three building eras can mean three roof types on one street. The 1960s and 1970s homes have low-pitch roofs with composition shingle or, on some, shake that has since been replaced. The 1980s and 1990s homes are more often stucco with concrete tile. Each takes a different clip. Shingle clips hold the C9 LED line to the gutter lip or shingle edge. Tile clips hook under the first course. We cut the line to the roofline at every corner so it stays tight.
Two-story homes from the later phases have a second eave line and often a front gable over the garage. Both can be lit. Most jobs in the Pocket light the front and the sides that show from the street.
Lake, levee and the yard
Homes on Lake Greenhaven have a second face that shows across the water. Lighting the back roofline and the dock or deck rail is a separate run from a back outlet. Homes against the levee have a high bank behind them, and the back is less visible, so the front gets the work. Mature trees take a spiral trunk wrap with even strand spacing, shrubs get nets, and the walk and driveway take stake lights.
Warm white and multicolor are both on offer. A lit warm-white wreath on the door or garage is a common add. An exterior outlet feeds the runs, with a timer at the plug.
Quotes and the end of the season
Tell us the address, how many stories, the roof type and the parts you want lit. Add a photo from the sidewalk, and for lake homes one from the water side if you have it. There is no charge for the quote, and most are done without a visit. Call (916) 659-6549. Installs run early November through December, mid-season fixes are included, and takedown is in January with storage until next year if you want it. Pocket-Greenhaven is about 30 miles west of Folsom. See Sacramento for the city page and Land Park for the neighborhood just north.
Common questions in Pocket-Greenhaven
My house backs onto Lake Greenhaven. Can you light the water side?
Yes. The back roofline and the deck or dock rail take their own run from a back outlet.
Do you work on concrete tile roofs?
Yes. Tile clips hook under the first course and hold the line at the edge. No screws or nails go into the tile.
