    Lighting a Rio Linda property

Rio Linda sits on the old Rancho Del Paso grant north of Sacramento, subdivided into farm lots in 1912. Much of it is still zoned AR-2, so a typical parcel runs one to two acres or more, with a single-story ranch house set back from the road, a barn or shop behind it, and fence on three sides. Streets like Dry Creek Road, Elkhorn Boulevard, 6th Street and the numbered streets off Rio Linda Boulevard follow that pattern.

That layout changes what gets lit. The house is usually one story with a long, low roofline, so a roofline run is quick to clip and easy to see from the road. The distance from the street to the house means the fence line and the driveway do more of the work. We run C9 LED line along the top rail of a pipe or wood fence and stake lights along the driveway so the property reads from Rio Linda Boulevard, not just from the porch.

    Power on a large lot

Many Rio Linda homes have a detached shop or barn, and the nearest exterior outlet may be far from where the lights need to go. We map the outlets first. Each run plugs into a timer at the outlet, and we use outdoor-rated cord sized for the length so a long pull to a fence corner does not drop voltage and dim the end of the string. If a barn has its own power, we light it as a separate run.

    What we install

    • Roofline C9 LED bulbs clipped to the gutter lip or shingle edge, cut to the exact roofline
    • Fence line lights along front and side fencing
    • Tree wrapping on oaks and front-yard trees, spiral wrapped with a set number of strands
    • Stake lighting down long gravel or paved driveways
    • Garland and warm-white pre-lit wreaths
    • Mid-season fixes, January takedown and storage until next year

Warm white and multicolor bulbs are both available. Permanent year-round lighting is an option for homeowners who do not want a seasonal install.

    Common questions in Rio Linda

Can you light the fence along the road if the house is set far back?
Yes. Fence line lighting is a standard install. We run line along the top rail and bring power from the nearest exterior outlet with outdoor-rated cord sized for the distance.

Do you install on metal barn roofs?
Yes. On a metal roof we use clips that grip the seam or panel rib instead of gutter clips, so nothing is screwed into the panels.

How far is Rio Linda from your base?
About 30 miles. We are based in Folsom and schedule Rio Linda installs from early November through December, with takedown in January.
