Folsom Lake Estates is a neighborhood of large custom homes on spacious lots in Granite Bay, close enough to Folsom Lake to walk or bike there. Lots on streets such as Oak Leaf Way, Oak Hill Drive and Willey Court run from under an acre to about an acre and a half, with mature oaks throughout. Homes range from single-story ranches built around 1980 to 5,000-square-foot estates, and some streets are gated. Ridge-top lots look out over the valley and the Sierra foothills.

The oaks are the main feature of most Folsom Lake Estates lots, and they light well. A mature oak takes a spiral wrap on the trunk and the main structure limbs with a set number of strands; we stop where the limbs thin and do not try to light the full canopy. One well-wrapped oak in the front yard shows from farther away than any roofline. Smaller ornamental trees take a lighter wrap.

Because every home was built separately, we quote the roofline from photos of your house rather than a tract plan. A single-story ranch has one long eave and deep overhangs. A two-story estate has stacked gables, hips and returns and may have a detached garage or guest house. In every case the C9 LED line is clipped to the gutter lip, the shingle edge or the eave tile, cut to each run, and never draped between peaks. Tell us the roof material, since composition, tile and metal each take their own clip.

Long Folsom Lake Estates driveways through the trees take stake lights along one or both edges. We run them from the nearest outlet and add a second power point if the length needs it, each with a timer set to the same dusk schedule. Entry pillars and a front fence take the same line along the cap.

Warm white is the usual choice against oak bark and darker exteriors. Multicolor is available and often goes on one tree. If your street is gated, we need the code for install and for January takedown. If your street has an association, check its seasonal-decoration rule and give us the window. Mid-season repairs are included, and we can keep your set until next November.
