Christmas lights for the hillside homes of Briggs Ranch in east Folsom, near Folsom Point and the Humbug Creek Trail.
Rolling terrain, old oaks
Briggs Ranch sits on rolling ground in the eastern part of Folsom near Folsom Lake, with Briggs Ranch Park and the start of the Humbug Creek Trail inside it and Folsom Hills Elementary nearby. The homes were built from the early 1980s into the 2000s and include both production homes and custom builds, many on cul-de-sacs such as Abrozo Court and Guernsey Court. Lots are irregular because of the slope. Mature oaks were kept when the streets went in and are the main feature of many yards.
What slope does to a lighting job
A house on a hillside lot often has its front eave at ladder height and its rear eave well above it. We quote each elevation on its own. Driveways here can be long and steep; stake lights at a set interval along the driveway edge make the house readable from the street and from the car. The roofs are mixed across four decades of building: composition shingle on most, tile on some, and a few replaced recently. Composition takes a shingle clip, tile a gutter clip, and the line is cut to each run so it follows the roofline rather than sagging across it.
Oaks and other trees
Native oaks are not wrapped the way a young maple is. We spiral the trunk and the first large limbs and stop where the canopy spreads; a full canopy wrap on an old oak is not practical and not needed. Smaller yard trees get a full wrap. Bushes get net lights. Everything runs from an exterior outlet with a timer at the plug, and warm white and multicolor are both stocked.

Common questions in Briggs Ranch
My rear roofline is two stories above the slope. Can it be lit?
Usually yes. We check the ground and the roof access on the quote and tell you if the rear needs different equipment or should be left dark.
Can the lights be seen from the trail or the park?
Rear fence lines and patio covers facing the trail can be lit with the same C9 line. Tell us which side you want seen.
Is there a decoration window in Briggs Ranch?
If your street has an association, check its seasonal-decoration rule and we install inside it. Otherwise the dates are yours.
